Analogue box

I have an NEC M6284A analogue receiver - expensive at $20 perhaps - but it works. I can see two good Q services on Asiasat 3 by working through the menu system but cannot work out the remote combination to store found details in a memory position. I have searched the web and find nothing about this box. Tried usual stuff like *store , n ( mem. position ) , store. Remote has a store button AND an enter button but no combination of these seems to work. Any clues ?

Mmm, perhaps the memory storage thingo is broke (technical term).

Excuse my complete ignorance but what do these things use for memory backup anyway? I can leave my analogue receiver off for months and it keeps it's memory. Once apon a time long long ago there was nicad, lithium or electroletic caps. Or is there a little man inside that keeps it going?

A little man with an NEC cap pedalling like mad ? Probably NVRAM or maybe a supercap - dunno never had the lid off it. The box still had some AS3 channels in it - so the memory works... I have made some progress - I have stored another channel in the box but I don't know what I did ! I will keep fiddling until it makes sense.

analogue?

Dont forget to write down each step as you go along there, ocean

then you'll have a working manual to refresh your memory

you're good at writing tech manuals.... so I've heard

when you've got it all sorted out you'll be able to publish your results

Crikey BC - what have you been reading ? I used to write poetry but don't have the time lately. I like to write and if asked can and will help any one in their endeavours. Calls are $5.50 per minute , the judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be enteres into....... ha ha
