Where was that review? The one I read said it was the best of the three blind search receivers reviewed. Admittedly there were some problems but none that were insurmountable. The Coship seems to be the best at the moment but they seem to have gone the way of hen's teeth.

I have been to the Innovia website but there does not appear to be any facility to actually order the receiver.

You have probably seen my post regarding my ASTRX which seems to be just so many SMDs - the case is probably good for something! If you guys, gender free, could recommend a better receiver then by all means do so - the ability to blind search certainly appeals.

What poor review???

Roys review said it was better than both the Coship and Satworks Blindsearch units.

I have mine now and I can't see any major problems with it so far.

Craig,

On the left on the home page of Innovia it says "contact us".

They were pretty helpful.

Side by side,
Innovia support diseq1.2 Coship only Diseq 1
Innovia supports 64 sats Coship only supports 16
Innovia has twin scarts and dual RCA's Coship has just RCA
Innovia supports 3000 channels Coship supports 1000?

Innovia supposedly has the better software out of the two.

The Coships which seem difficult to get hold of are suppose to be getting upgraded to support more memory, diseq1.2, twin scarts and did someone say cam??

Coships available in NZ from telsat or satlinknz, The Innovia will also be available in NZ shortly from a new dealer.
and no its NOT me

Yes and they are keen make improvements to the software and upgrade the hardware.

They mentioned replacing the 8 meg flash ic with a 16 or 32meg that should give 4x the channel storage and also allow for the o.s to be enhanced.

Funny enough many months ago Telsat sent me 3 fta units...when i switched the innovia on i thought i have seen this software before... and sure enough I had because i remember out of the 3 units this one stood out as it had a scanning search feature..unfortunatly it would crash half way through its scan.

Appears the innovia has an upgraded working version of this software. Who knows it may have even been the same hardware? I can't recall the brand or model number.

Why not check out the sponsor, after all they keep us alive.

Apsattv, do you really need to push these things so hard when you still can't deliver anything other than "I've got one and it works great but no one else can buy it?????" BTW, the poor review I mentioned said it still had problems, just cause it seemes better than coship does not mean it's any good. You read the review yourself, can I ask what was so good about it, that has made you feel OVER the moon.

From what Good old Roy described, he had problems with all of them, I read good old sat facts and there was nothing but good reviews about the sponsor's STB. Maybe the sponsor needs to promote and turn this thing into life for eveyone.

Guiseppi, Blind search-------just cause three cheap-very cheap STb have been reviewed and come to your attention does not mean these are the only be all and end all. I've seen 10 STB in the last 6 months that do blind search. Do I spruke???? No, why???? Cause it ain't that big a deal, ask Nokia, they started it all. Only someone after a 2 dollar Crazy Clints/Clarks special gets excited over these.---Pay the money and get a decent box with good software and you won't have to get mixed up in this so called "new phenomena" called blind search.

Had a look there interesting the Powtek has the same remote as the Innovia. Can someone with the Powtek post some screenshots of the menus?

RE: Site Sponser, would not like to see this forum go the way of that "other" forum. The minute some one says I got a (brandname removed) from (Company removed) you have posts being removed or edited

Apsattv, do you really need to push these things so hard when you still can't deliver anything other than "I've got one and it works great but no one else can buy it?????

I already said there will be a dealer in NZ stocking them soon. As soon as I have the details i will put them up.

I would rate it as GOOD or Very Good certainly in no means perfect. The software could do with tweaks here and there like with all units.

Don't get carryed away Powtek being mentioned in Satfacts was hardly a review. It would be good to see more info about the Powtek though.

At the end of the day I guess it depends on what your interest is if your after feeds etc it makes sense to grab one of these cheap boxes until the more expensive units offer similar feature

If there is one quote in satellite forums I hate...it is the one that says " Go and support the site retailer"

For heavans sake, we could end up with no competition whatsoever !!!

The idea of these forums is to share knoweldge and costs.

Once we start prohibiting other peoples ideas or thoughts, just because they don't match an advertisers product range, then it becomes a closed forum.

If this is going to start happening here, then unfortunately I will leave the forum...let people have their say, whether they be right or wrong. At least they are contributing.

Diatribe finished...sorry if I offended anyone

If you read the site rules you will see that this isn't the case. People are allowed to talk about any satellite businesses and prices they want and link to other businesses websites in the forum. There is also a Commercial Adverts section for other advertisers to use. Nobody is prohibiting anyones ideas or thoughts about products, this is Yalickit's personal opinion and anyone has the right to say otherwise as you have just done.

You will see throughout this forum there is talk of products that the sponsor doesn't sell and even in this thread apsattv is comparing different blind search reveivers.

In the end it's your decision what product you buy and where you buy it from.

Thanks vetrun..

I appreciate what you say...
Yalickit is entitled to his opinion, as you say, but when it also comes with the tag "moderator" next to the post, it makes me wonder.

For the sake of clearing the arguement, it may be better if when a moderator states something, he qualifies it as a "personal opinion", and not a site reference.

I hope you take my comment in it's correct inference.

I do not want to start an arguement, and will end my comments on this now....it probably ain't helping things
