Question Nokia 9500s

I have, what I belive is a Nokia 9500s. On the bottom label it says "chinese DVB 2000 S" Mediamaster.
Upon power on these msg appears "B2.ooUnS","0560003" & "Nokiae3".
Is this the same as the DVB2000 software on my box?
Can I use serial (Null-Modem) to upgrade?

does it have a SCSI port and SCART connections? if the bootloader is B2.ooUns
then the serial port is open, no BDM required.
cheers

Wink

The Nokia have Scarts for VCR, TV & SAt. Also have RS232 & SCSI.
Is this a 9500s Box? Is it using null-modem cable connected to the RS232 for upgrade?

it sounds like a 9500 or a 9200. Does it have a cam? if it has a CI slot then it's a 9600. null modem cable to upgrade.
Use Nokia serial download sw to upgrade to dvb2000, it's the most reliable.

good luck

The Front, opening the perspex, have a slot for CAM & on its right have a slot also to insert, like a Credit card?
Is the Null modem connet to RS232 or SCSI?
Is there a web site re this subject?

To see if its got dvb2000 on it press the menu button and if a list appears with numbers to press to select an option its dvb2000 or check the about or whatever it's called menu and it will tell you what version it has installed.

Depending on what software is installed there may be different steps involved in the upgrade.

If the CA Cam slot is behind that perspex it is most likely a 9200/9500/dbox1. Basically these 3 are essentually the same and use the same software.

Is this to view a list on the TV or the Nokia screen display?
I belive because this is an old version box, it only receive older version CAMS, what's it called? Also what is the slot on the perspex, which allow a card size object to be inserted? This is located on right sight of the CA CAM slot.

The menu appears on the TV screen. The old version cams are called CA cams which are fatter than the new ones. This means it is a 9200/9500/dbox1. The card slot is for a smartcard which interfaces with whatever cam is in the CA slot (usually betacrypt/irdeto).

CA CAM

I thought the smartcard goes into the CA CAM? Why also in this slot?
As an OZZY in Vic, is subscription of overseas pay TV legal? As far as C band is concern or would I need K/KU band dish & so forth?
What size dish is recommended?
