What is the cheapest satellite receiver you can find? I've been surfing through all the links from the apsattv.com site and the cheapest box with a slot I can find is the Sensor ID Digital CI-24 for $199 trade (less 20%) at www.melbournesatellites.com.au.
Most satellite shops don't have an online store but some are ahead of the pack. www.kristal.com.au in Townsville has a Topfield 3030F Digital FTA for $165 retail or trade I don't know, the site lacks an e-mail address. www.sciteq.com.au in Wangara WA has a Sensor ID Digital CI-24 for $219.45 retail or trade price, they also have a dearth of e-mail technology. Shipping for one receiver from WA is only $12.10. www.satworld.com.au in Dandenong VIC has a Humax F1 ACE FTA for $199 retail. Express shipping for one receiver is a huge $35. Any comments on these receivers or online shopping? |

Checkout our site sponsor adigitalife, link at top of page.....
Remember you pay for what you get. Decide on what you want first too, do you need a CI, do you want a blind scanner etc etc

Unless you want something that blind scans get the ID Digital. In fact if you want something that blind scans get one of those and get an ID Digital as well. I really like mine and the sensitive tuner will get pics when the other boxes have pixels.

Thanks for the replies simmo and VK4BKP.
A blind scanner sounds like a great idea. I suppose that means channel scanning is done without entering frequencies, polarizations and symbol rates. I assume the channels are then updated automatically. That would save me from scanning in new channels for my not yet lyngsat savy customers. I did check out www.adigitalife.com and found the Powtek FTA Blind Search Receiver for $250 which is reasonably good. |

I agree with VK4BKP
The CI-24 is a great receiver. Good SW editor as well. Can be allcammed too. Tuner more sensitive than the Nokia. Fast channel surfing, and with one CI slot, it can do more than just FTA IMHO greatly superior to the other cheapos mentioned in your post (never seen a powtek though). |

Thanks sholom, peace be unto you.
I don't know much about editing software although I do like web page code. Thanks to all for your recommendations. I've bought too many FTA boxes so I'll probably go for the Sensor; It makes sense having a Common Interface just in case. I just received an e-mail from Jason at aDigitaLife and the Powtek is out of stock and apparently I just reminded them to take it off the site. Sorry Moderators, I realised I was posting in the wrong subject after my first post. |

Would it be out of order to say satmax.ws in NZ have them in stock if you can't wait for Jasons next order?

No worries apsattv, anyone can recommend any satellite dealer as long as it's not the company advertising.
Personally I would fork out $350 and get a Fortec Star FTA Lifetime Ultra blind scan box as they seem to be the best blind scan box from the reviews. vetrun |

Thanks Apsattv, I checked out the NZ site. I wouldn't mind a bit of currency trading to add to the excitement. Thanks also for providing the links on your web site for my whole online shopping surf. Did you really make that site?
I appreciate your recommendation vetrun, forking out on a Fortec. Excuse my dearth of satellite savvyness but what reviews are you talking about? |

don't know Zokinet. check www.iddigital.com for sw infos. Apparently the CI 44 tuner is 10db's more sensitive than the CI24. Unless the figure comes from a SatFacts review it should be an outstanding performer.
If it cannot be allcammed get a matrix rev and you should be fine. BTW the allcam version of the CI 24 doesn't work with Fxtel I believe Simmo was going to to buy one. sholom |

No more discussion of UCAS/allcam, this is a FTA site.
