Sat frequency, symbol rate, polarization

Hello all the Master and Guru

I just setup a 2.4m C band dish in Perth. From my understanding I need to point the dish to a satellite (eg. AisaSat 3S, 105.5E) first then do a auto-scan and it will receive all the channels on the satellie.

But how do set the satellite info suach as AsiaSat 3S frequency, SR, Polarization? I check it at http://www.lyngsat.com/asia3s.html, it only the listing for each channel Frequency, SR, VPID...

Then I found someone on the forum listed the AsiaSat 3S info:
Frequency: 3.640 GHz
SR: 27.600 MS/s
Polarization: H

How do you get this info from lyngsat? Can someone kindly give me the following satellite info but most importantly teach me how and where to obtain these values, thanks a million.

AsiaSat 3S, AsiaSat 6B, Measat 3, AsiaSat 2 and Apstar6. Thank you.

P.S. - I also found a useful website: http://www.dishpointer.com/?satellite=1056 to get your location lat, long and elevation for each satellite, you just key in your address.

Regards,
babySatellite

According to what I read from yr mail, I understood u have a motorised 2.4 CBand Dish.
To view more than one satellite u must have a motorised Dish.
Lyngsat is the best source of Satellite locations. www.lyngsat.com
It will show the location of each satellite, freq symbolrate,Polarzation, n fec.
When I installed my motorised satellite, my friend came n showed me that I must ALIGN the Dish.
Have u aligned yr Dish.?

Hello jpsoni

Thanks for your reply.

The motorised dish is setup ok. I just curious how to obtain the satellite info such as its frequency, sr & polarization. At http://www.lyngsat.com/asia3s.html only list the free tv channel info.

For example if I want to add a new tp, I need to set the satellite fq, sr & polarization first.

eg.
AsiaSat 3S info:
Frequency: 3.640 GHz
SR: 27.600 MS/s
Polarization: H

But I cannot find the above info from lyngsat.com, where is it on lyngsat? May be I am a bit stupid, I just can't find it on the website.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
babySatellite

The page you linked to has the TP frequency in big bold blue numbers in the left column. Next to the blue numbers is an H or a V.

Towards the right of the page in small black letters is the SR + FEC.

Which bits can you not see ?

No, I see no transponder on 3.7GHz...the lowest transponder is 3.6(00)GHz with SR of 27500 and polarity H.

Each transponder has several services, you need to scan all transponders and then go through them and see what is FTA. Even the services marked as encrypted can be FTA at times.

I see from LYNGSAT the lowest frequency transponder with services marked as FTA is 3750 H with SR of 10490. You might see that if your dish is large enough.

If and when you lock that transponder you could try a blindscan of the entire TP range, you can sometimes find services not indicated at LYNGSAT.
