1.2M Prime Focus

G'Day All, Happy New Year.

Having scored yet another Andrew Aluminium 1.2M solid (this time with a Ku LNB), I am now flounderring with the LNB details.
In very, very feint lettering is "NEC-11", it's a white square (about a cigarette pack size) prime focus type with the remenants of a Blue Feed horn cover protuding into the centre of the LNB mount and in one left corner (on the rear) there is "Hor" and on the mounting where the spreadres are an arrow.

Oh yes it has an N type connector for the feed cable.
But I can't find any info on 'Google' (and it's meant to be soooo good-not) to get it to work.
I do get some signal.
I don't get any quality, so me thinks the LNB is U/S.

I've tried every trick I know with respect to off-set dish alingment and added 19 degrees or subtracted 19 degrees for the elevation, but going now where very fast.

My recent and very relectant move of some dishes due to tree-shadow had my 45cm O/S and as 65cm O/S set up and all going in 5 minutes flat!!!!

Surely prime focus set-ups are not so hard?

The LNB can be 'half working' - try watching the S meter whilst placing your hand over the LNB throat and you should see a change in the noise level.

This will 'help' prove the thing is working...the LNB can still have plenty of mixer and IF noise even if the RF front-ends are stuffed.

Well today I'm going to try and set up the 1.5m dish (thought it was a 1.2m) on P8 for some C-Band sigs (with a suspect LNB)
Using Gorbtrack and the Sun dial set up method... got about 20mins to wait till "Sol" gets into position.
Then it's push, push, tip,tip to see what might be there.
The arms on the existing dish are meant for Ku Band, so the illumination is not going to be great (920mm is optimum, I've got adout720mm) but hopefully we might get a snif of something. Then we fine tune the arms.

The Ku LNB is a single polarity type. The arms holding the LNB have a small adjustment as you can twist them to move the focal point of the LNB slightly. It is only a very small adjustment.

I am currently trying to mount a Ku+C band LNB onto one of these Andrews dishes. As yet I haven't got very far as I am a bit busy with work. A picture of the replacement mount is attached.

Trying to find a dual polarity LNB to fit the feed horn of the existing mount is almost impossible.

Regards

Well It's been a while but here I am again.
Moved the dish & trying to get I8 on C-band (mainly for ABC-AP) but still having probs.
Arm length is 100mm too short, LNB has 60-65% sig but no quality.
Tried the hand in front of appeture, not much changes.
Can some one please tell me where the 30 degree markers go?
Plenty of experience in Ku but this C stuff is a bit different.
.
Apologies for the out of focus pic of LNB (it's only a cheapie pix taker)
