mpeg edits with VideoReDo
I did a search and didn't find any reference to the editor, VideoReDo here on the forum.
I found and started using it almost three years ago, and have been hanging out on their forum ever since. I use it with mpeg recorded from a pay-TV PVR, an FTA PVR , as well as an FTA PC card (Twinhan). My goal is to cut out commercials and trim the video for making DVD. In the beginning, I used DVD Labs Pro to make the DVDs, and found it quite spectacular, if a little costly. Now, the VideoReDo guys have released TVSuite, which is the editor with low-end DVD-making capability. It's certainly more than adequate for most, but if you read their forum, many users want more, More, MORE features. - Isn't it always so? I am a volunteer moderator on their forum to help combat spam, but have no other connection with the outfit. They also have a distributor in Oz, operating under the name hyperreality , with the usual domain name format. He also hangs out on the forum offering help, as do the company men and many friendly users. |

I have used the basic VideoReDo program, and it certainly fixes MPEG file glitches/errors, as you can get with MPEGs recorded from imperfect/noisy satellite streams.
Editing out adverts down to the frame where adverts start/stop works well. I will look for the TVSuite.

I use ProjectX to demux, edit out unwanted bits, and add chapter points if I'm going to create a DVD.

As a rule works well but occasionally my conversions fail because of too many Buffer underflows or some other error. Unfortunately I never know what they mean or why it happens.

All the videos at www.satdirectory.tv are converted from the transport stream to mpg2 via VideoReDo. I then do the editing in Videostudio and then run the result into a On2 VP6 Flash encoder for the video served from the site.
I love VideoReDo - however at the moment it wont convert the H.264 streams on Asiasat 3 (9x, 9XM, B4U Music, B4UMovies etc). I have not found an application that will convert these H.264 transport streams (.rec files) to something I can edit - has anyone found a solution? VideoReDo are working on a new version supporting H.264, I guess I may just have to wait. Cheers, Mark Last edited by mfahey; 27-12-2008 at 02:10 PM. |

Yep, VideoReDo opens the standard definition Topfield .rec files OK.
The new HD range of Topfield receivers save HD and the new SD MPEG4 channels in a updated version of the .rec file, it is these new .rec's that I am having trouble finding an application to open. MPEG Streamclip which is another favorite for Topfield users wont handle the new version files either. Cheers, Mark |

However, last week I recorded the Newcastle v Melbourne A league match and VideoReDo wouldn't do it. I could only convert it to movie clip. Everything else came up with errors, but I'm not sure why. |
