Recently I bought a Cheaper STB Dion-DT316 to use as extra reciver for my 2nd TV.

I have 3-dish (2Ku & 1 C-band) connected these to my current metabox STB via a 1X4 Deisq switch.

I got couple of problem with new dion stb as follow:
1. When I connect this dion DT316 reciever to LNB loop out port of metabox, only one dish signal (which is current/active in Mother STB at that time) i can able to get through Dion to my TV.
Other dishes signal failed to attend in Dion stb.

2. then I connect dion directly to my Deisq switch as main STB, in this situation I was only able to get Port 1 signal from Diesq switch.

I do not understand what going on. This dion STB's performance is not good as Metabox. The signal also dropped frequently. pixalized.

Another question, I got one slot for smart card in the Dion, is there any one dion user got same slot? or its a future provision for upgrade? plz confirm:confused:

I need a manual for this stb. Any one can help me with the manual.

Does this help ya?

Thanks simmo......

2nd problem already solved. switching fixed as seperation STB.

For the first problem, loop out from mother stb, what thing should i do to get all satelltes in my Dion stb? should I put Splitter plus another Diesq switch for dion? plz confirm.

Or only spliter after Diesq switch?

If one box is on Vertical, and theother one goes over to Horizontal, then the differentvltages will clash, you will lose Vertical, and the same goes for the switches.

I have a Dion DT316 with a Strong SRT4654x connected through the loop out. In this case the DT316 will be the commanding unit so will force the LNB to change polarities when the different transponders are selected. If the "downstream" SRT4654x is on a channel using the same polarity all OK but signal to SRT4654x will be lost if different polarity.

This only applies if the Dion is actually turned ON. If it's turned OFF (front panel power button) then the downstream SRT4654x can change polarities no problem at all. I think the DT316 actually blocks the LNB switching voltage from passing through the Dion box when it's ON but allows it to pass through, and onto the LNB, when the box is powered off (front panel).

I simply turn off the Dion when it's not being used to get full channel switching capabilities on the downstream Strong box.

But my question to you is:
Have you been able to get your DT316 to output widescreen video. NOT letterboxed 16:9 on a 4:3 aspect but genuine 16:9 video - because I'm buggered if I can !

Cheers,
Dave.

By the way, since you have this stb, Do you have Manual for this? if so, can you please PM me the PDF of it. thanks in advance for help.

By the way My TV is not wide screen one, so I didn't try it.

What s/w you have in your STB?

Can you able get Hidden Menu/s?

No manual I'm afraid. I picked up two (one for a spare) DT316 receivers for $30 each from the AvComm stand at the Wyong HAM Radio Field Day last February. I asked them about a manual but they had none. I have since had a play with a Dreamax DT470 (also made by Dion) and all the menus appear to be the same as the DT316, so if you can find a DT470 manual it could be a useful start.

As for hidden menu's - also no luck. If it has hidden menu's I haven't been able to find them. I did do some net surfing on that subject but only found references to the DT470 hidden menus. Tried those but they did nothing on the DT316.

Hidden PIDs can be a problem but as long as you know what they SHOULD be there should be no problem. I had the DT316 happily receiving Imparja, until it was taken away recently :( by entering the hidden PID values. You have to do a manual scan of a known, but useless, transponder (can be a pay channel) to create a template. Then edit the transponder frequency, polarity & symbol rate and then do another manual scan of that single transponder only. Finally go into the channel manager and manually edit the PIDs to match the value of the hidden ones. Messy but it worked for me.

My Software Version = 1.0 SSD May 21 2004
My Hardware Version = 1.0 May 21 2004
My Bootstrap Version = V001

Cheers,
Dave.
