Ok guys (and girls),
We all have tried various recievers and have read or heard about other new recievers on the market. We tend to only talk about them when we have a problem with them, not when they work well.
So what i want to know is what recievers have you tried/owned and what is your favourite reciever and comment why.
Also what reciever would you buy if given the chance.

My previously owned sat receiver list:

Dynasat MS50??? analog
Pace Mss100 analog
*Drake ESR 2000 XT (analog) + Inclined Orbit Adaptor - best analog
Praxis Digimaster (dig/analog/positioner)
*Pacific Satellite DSR 2000fta - my first NEW digital.. Ahh the memories!
*Nokia DBox Irdeto CAM - loaded with DVB2000- good for its time
*Dion DT415s - Easiest to use, worked well with a cam, motor control etc
Pace DGT400 - hmm.. we all know what these were good for ;)
Dreambox DM500 - good but not really user friendly
Dreambox DM7000 PVR - good but not really user friendly
Lawrence LT7200CI
Dion DT800 PVR
Maxplus HTS 9300+
*Digicrystal SD01 Blind scan - cheap. but scans all channels fast
Echosmart (generic) bsb770 blind scan (with 790 firmware)

Current Receivers Id like to try:
Vantage 221s CI Blindscan
Octagon SF318 Blindscan
OPENBOX X-820 Blindscan

My first digital sat recievr was a Hyundai HSS100c now not working I also got an Echostar LT830 analogue reciever still working.
Now I still use my Humax 5410z which works well enough for FTA and for a previous use .
Plus I have a Topfield 3200ir tucked away.
I would like one of those blindscanning boxes or if my computer can handle it a DVB-S card for those 4:2:2 signals

If you buy a blind scan box buy the Strong 4658X. The best I have seen. And it is Japanese. :)

Jacko Just wondering Have you used the blind scanning feature on the Strong as I have 4653X and am not that impressed with it, slow and misses a lot.

can it do the 4:2:2 signals ?

btw, I've also read some good reports on this unit,so i know it's running "up there" with the "thoroughabreds" atm :)

BIg Mick can you elaborate on the 4658X being better than The 4653X please, apart from the CI slot in the 4658X

Yes the blind search works good. Compared to the Fortec star / space / Manhathan that I use now I belive it is the best. The fact it also has componet output as well as the usb port for mp3 & picture veiwing on the TV. I also hooked it up to my 1.2 M dish with the Discq motor today. It was easy to program etc. The best bit is you can turn off the pin entry for the installer menu. I think this is my best box now. If only it had a skew output to drive my ADL feed. I still need my strong 4800 II for that.

I,ve had more satellite receivers then girl friends, JUST,

Started with a Dynasat 50 analogue receiver all 50 channels menu.. Why so many, then an Echostar arrived , another dynasat 100, then we went digitial, cash reserves have just recovered, Nokia, [2] Hyundai, Pace, divitone [there a bloody bad joke]Dreambox,Fortec [3] pansat2500, Atom 9000, manhatten, [for about a week, yuck] emetabox111[3] triple dragon, a few ADB's a couple of SMS, which I tried unsuccessfully to change, rewrite software.

For overall reliability I would rate the hyundai 800ci as the best , this was pre blind scan era. they tell me the new hyundai 720 with blind scan is good at at a couple of hundred dollars you can't really go wrong.
