While reading the posts I've noticed you mentioned blindscaners. but what is it really as compared to other receiver like Echostar DSB 780 FTA( I have it on loan for testing)? Reading Strong It says a"Advanced Blind Scan Capability ". help I need to buy a receiver.

The majority of Satellite receivers require a 'table of satellite tuning data' to set the tuning frequency of the satellite transponder you wish to view. This table can be set manually for new frequencies and satellites.
A blind scanner simply tunes through the entire frequency range and finds each and every frequency automatically. The blind scan takes some time.
So if you know what you wish to view, a blind scanner is a waste of time and money.
If you wish to constantly scan and search new satellites and frequencies, then you've got a rare disease and the blindscanner is for you. :)

Thank you guy. I don't think that I'm immune. It could be a contagious disease.

As a hobby a Blind Scan STB is the way to go as you can fish for diff Tps & channels with a broarder net...so to speak.
Point to make, even though you will find all of the Tps (should) channels with hidden PIDs mighten load on certain STBs.
cheers
