in the fortec star lifetime ultra menu, under channel edit there is a CODE button.
My question about it is 1: what is it for? 2: does anyone know the the password?
had to ask as its been bugging me for over a year.
thx in advance

We are not allowed to answer those questions as it has a connection to things that are deemed naughty. You will need to hop onto a different forum

password is 0 0 0 0
The option is for the UCAS feature. We are not permitted to talk about that on the FTA forum. Basically it help in bypassing payTV. Useless in Australia for now. :)

I'm not here for the argument...the forum is too good to get into that.
It's just that I find it difficult to know where that line is actually drawn?
This is what it says on the header to this section

If 1668 is not related to UCAS, then I stand stuffed.
Anyhow, I'll shutup before I regret saying anything else.
Diatribe and hissyfit over...lol

This is a hardware related question. The information (password) he seek is already provided in the manual of the receiver.

My FCSI 5100 Ultra CI came with the wrong manual then, as 1668 is certainly not in mine.

That the pin after you have flash with al7bar? It gives you the option to update the channels data. :p

Wow... Oz, I know exactly where you are coming from!! But we dont need to argue over this do we???
The code menu only came about with after market software....this wasn't ordinarily supplied by the seller. The discussion is trivial, and not really worthy of healthy debate, as any search engine could quite happily provide most answers, to most problems or questions..
The fact that questions of this type naturally occur here on Vetrun is that we are a FTA satellite site, and google doesnt discriminate when people are looking for stuff for 'free'.
The fine line....well, I dont know mate...
Most of us would know, as your sig clearly demonstrates, a lot more than indicated. Trying to keep an even keel on the subject of FTA and 'S'FTA and other related subjects is extremely difficult.
I hope the members understand.

Ok...I know where ya comin from, and maybe best to "agree to disagree" rather than have a debate that will get us nowhere anyhow.I'll have to learn to bite my cheek next time, rather than get caught up in such emotive areas...maybe another beer break would be better...now there's an idea?
And yes, my sig does indicate I know how I came to gain 1668 via my aftermarket software. However, I am not silly enough to say I know everything, and hence that is why I keep calling here, and lot's of other places,as I also learn a lot of things. Problem is, not all of them stick !!
Just for fun...is 4.2.2 regarded as encryption ? ( viewer/oz runs !!!!!)

alrighty...lol
firstly im not debating , simply stating as a fact like viewer is.
i must've got the wrong manual too, there is no mention of anything to do with what i asked nor the password, thus my reason for asking here as i knew a few ppl have fortec's from reading posts ect., so i thought they might be able to shed some light on it for me.
cheers

I knew the pin wasn't there, because it is not in the original factory software. I only commented that for ,reasons in the rest of the thread. Sorry to lead you astray. Someone ( if not you) must have added aftermarket software for that menu to be present.
There are no other menus hidden for you to use.Enjoy what you have, it's a fairly user frendly receiver.
If you have other questions about your Fortec, there are plenty of users to help you.
