View Full Version : Fortec Star ultra, losing stored satellites

Sometimes when I try to select a satellite while using Disecq 1.2, the dish seems to have lost it's way and cannot find it and I have to search again for the satellite then store the position again.
When using usals it works ok, but I prefer 1.2 because I can nudge the dish to get a stronger signal.

What I would like to know is if there could be a fault with the software or perhaps the circuit board could have a fault.

Anyone have any ideas on this please?

V box on C band and Motek on Ku band

It is easy to get my c band Back because I keep a list of Vbox/Satellite stored positions

Fortec will not work properly on motek due to power supply not having enough "power" to operate a motek ,I had a similar problem, but ok with vbox

I had a problem like that with the healing using RG6. RG11 fixed it.

I would set it all up and then put it on standby. When I would turn it on the settings would be all over the place and I had to reset everything.I gave up in the end and sold it.My strong x2 box had no problem.I had a strong 4820 and it had problems with the motek so I took it back and they changed the power supply to the same as the 4800ii and no problems.

Uncle George.

Make sure that you have not given two sats the same position number when setting the 1.2. Easily done.

Either set to null or renumber.

Uncle George. I have 2 ultras, both have identical firmware on them, yet 1 will do the same as what you say yours does. After a bit of mucking around I worked out for some strange reason 1 unit didn't like being hooked up with a disecq switch. What used to happen as well was that the crook unit would change all the LNB settings for each sat, disecq settings etc. When I removed the disecq and shut off the box then left it for a couple of minutes, then hooked it up to a non motrised, non-disecq dish it worked ok.

The only thing that I can come up with is that maybe when I did a firmware update that the file may have been corrupted. One day I will get around to re-doing it and see if it is any better.

Interesting that you should suggest that.
Last night I suddenly got the bright idea to check the possition numbers and found that I have doubled up on a few satellies, So today I will renumber them all again and see if that helps

The same happened to me 2 weeks ago when I added Amc23 to my list of sats.

I used the same position No. as PAS2 in the 1.2 setup and the motech could no longer find that sat. However USALS worked ok.

Sometimes its the little things that we miss which cause the problems.
