As per my last post here:
http://www.vetrun.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4588

I'm beginning to suspect my problem with losing TVE at the same time as DW and TV5 leaving Asiasat 2 has something in the transmission being changed and now my receiver (Panasat IRD 520) can't handle it.

Does anybody here have any experience with this receiver?

thanks
John

maybe the pids changed did you try reloading the transponder after deleteing the channels?

The Panasat 520 doesnt let you do any of that, no mention of transponders or pids and stuff.

And it stores just one channel at a time and doesnt scan.

From what I'm reading on the net its a very basic receiver compared to what features you get now.

Have heard it described as a "first generation" receiver, built 1996 I think.

Maybe its time to get something newer.

Wow a Panasat 520 - yep I have one but it hasnt been pluged into the power for a long long time. I purchased mine for the Euro channels on AS2 the same month they started. It was the first easy to get hold of digital receiver in Australia. Its made in Sth Africa isnt it - and the company became UEC? I'm pretty sure mine has Mutichoice (Sth African Pay TV) branding on the menus. I last used it as a Foxtel recevier for my parents place when Foxtel was FTA (for well over 6 months wasn't it?) following Galaxy crashing. I havent got any advice, but thanks for reminding me of the long forgoten receiver tucked down behind the Hyunadi 100C (also retired a long time ago) in the shed!

Cheers,
Mark

I also bought mine when mpeg2 was kicking off. I mainly used it on As 2 & Pas 8 CBC mux when it was FTA. It cost $1600 then. People whinge now about spending $200 on a blind search.

yes. The mark-up;s in those days was unbeleivable, but there was only a couple of places where such stuff was available off the shelf. And we did not kno any better, so we paid it..
As for the hyundai 100, mate, don't write them off, I,ve been told they will except software for the 800ci.. And there software, still pisses over everything, when it comes to using a motech or simler
