Does anyone know if it is possible to attach in any way a Hard Drive to these sat boxes?
If so what would I need -generally and can I do it myself?
How do you turn the recording on and off and read from the disk to comp?

Yes...RF out from sat receiver to antenna in on pci tv card
OR
Composite video out from sat receiver to composite in on pci tv card. Most analog pci tv cards have the comp video input. It's the yellow rca socket. Sound will be the red and white.

You can feed A/V or RF channel to a domestic DVD/HDD recorder, which is now reasonably affordable, or use an A/V sender to feed the A/V into your PC or Notebook for recording, but reliability of PC recordings can be unpredictable.
