View Full Version : No Horizontal on fortec!!
I have struck a problem with my lifetime ultra today. For some reason it wont pick up any horizontal tp's.
At first I thought it might have been the lnb so I changed it over to my spare.
Did a rescan and still no difference. Changed of to my fortec 5100+ and get both polarities. LNB power was on in both cases.
Anyone got any clues??? Because I have just run out of ideas
Ok have come up with a thoery that maybe the power supply is not working properly. Haven't had a chance to measure the voltage at the lnb yet but just asking is it possible the PS is faulty?? Next question if it is where do I get 1 from?? Simmo?? or any other fortec guru!
Ok have found the problem. :) :) The power supply was not swithing bewteen 18 & 13v for some reason. Got the box my mate gave me ripped out the power supply, fitted it to the box fired it up and yeehaa.
Does anyone know where I can get a new power supply from or has a schematic of the power supply so I can fix it.??

I've got a power supply schematic and Fortec service manual in PDF format I can email to you.

How about you post it here for all to have access to?
jefferyg it would be most appreciated if you could upload it to this forum as there are a lot of members who have fortecs.
check your pm

efab, have you tried another software version? I've not heard of this problem before?
simmo no I haven't I just did a direct swap of power supply boards and it runs well.
I actually did read something somewhere but can't remember where, I think it was the AL7bar forum.
If I can find it I will give you the link

Ahh so psu fixed it?
yep sure did. But I still can't fathom why it should of gone the way it did.
faulty parts or poor QA!!
Anyway if I can find that link I will send it to you

Can only post PS schematic other files are two big for the 1M limit. Note this is for Pansat but is same as far as I can tell.
Need 1.5 Meg for the Fortec service manual and 2M for the STI datasheet.
Is there another way?

If the circuit is the same I would try replacing C15 and C20.
MANY switchmode power supplies are repaired by replacing electrolytic capacitors.

Break it up into 2 or more parts and post them or contact the mods and VET.

The upload limit for zip/rar/pdf/doc files is now 8 Megs :)
vetrun
if vetrun is right then I should be able to upload these files so here goes
This covers everything from trouble shooting, schematics & parts list
Here is file number 2
Pansat power supply schematic
here is file number 3
This 1 and the above 2 are compliments of jefferyg
thankyou from us all
ocean, simmo & some of you other guys in the trade might find some of this right up your alley
anyway have a read
This covers the main chip and covers everything form clock timings to schematics, haven't read it but is more suited to the tech

Simmo I was a bit worried that they didn't work but you obviously got to see them so all ok. There is some heavy reading in there for the likes of me
enjoy

Could efab kindly add a short discription of the file with each post? Make it easier to know what the file is about. Please? :)
