I am looking for a new satellite receiver and I'm confused as to what a CI Slot is? I want to get a box that will last me many years so don't want to make a bad choice.
I'm thinking of getting a MAXplus 9300 which has a smart card slot. Then I found a Strong 4657 which looks exactly the same with smart card slot but also a CI slot.
The receiver I have currently is a FTA Hyundai HCC100C has been reliable but I need something to recieve a viaccess card and also to meet future hobby needs.
Can anybody advise me?
I don't want to spend a fortune though - say up to $250.

No receiver is unversal. Some or more sensitive then others. Some can do UCAS. Others can do blind scan (some are faster then others too). ETC. I can see the latest and the greatest would only last about 12 months before something greater comes alone.
Let us know your main use of this new receiver you are after and the gurus here would give you a recommandation on what to get.

Yup, Kaz was the place. I intended to buy a MAXplus of a good fellow named Perry, but as I was itching to start straight away brought from Kaz and I got a great deal so hope nobody is going to say "strong sucks and MAXplus rules".
I've had a bugger of a day, just as I think I'm going great guns, there's another problem. Thought I'd learn a thing or two and I have, but 2 steps forward and 1 back. :)
Anyway Knucklehead is there any chance I can get you over for a site visit and give me some pointers, I'm really not sure I'm going to be able to work this out.

Maybe Strong and Maxplus are very similar if not the same. I will wait to be corrected but I was told Strong, Maxplus and Hyundai come out of the same factory. I have a Maxplus, it is very easy to use.
A friend has Maxplus and Hyundai but likes the way the maxplus works but says the picture on they Hyundai is better. Now I want a blind scan to add to my ever growing pile os stuff, probably an Innovia.

i have just viewed the new strong box although this one did not have the extra ci slot fitted just a card slot ,and it is identtical to the x2 box which was actually distributed by strong so i think they have just rebadged it under there official name.and the maxplus box is also the same box under a different badge.

My Strong says made in China, is your MAXplus made in Korea or China?

Yep that must be right. The Strong I've just got has the card slot and CI slot but there are 3 other models in the same looking box, Fta, 1 card slot, 1 card slot/1 CI slot and one that runs on 12V with 1 card slot (for caravans).

I running MAXplus 2100 Here and have good results only if you need it for feedhunting there are not more that 1300 TP places if this is full you must clean the memory of TP's but 5000 Channels is no problem. TV and Radio.
