boxes are really cheap, i got an FTA Only box (No Card Reader) from a local wholesaler of mine that i deal through prodominately for PC hardware and it works a treat!
It's basically a RE-Badged Homecast/EmTech GS-150 but i do not care.... cost me less than $150 and i have never had any trouble with it... it has provisions for upgrading the software and it also allows the install of Ir-deto, Nargra and Cryptoworks if you as so wish to tbe bothered (I dont't think you will after reading your post) if you want to know more, visit the link below..... i can call them monday and get you the latest price if u wish... the other option is a-digital life

Thak you for the point in the right direction, been trying to find out who made the box for ages.

Could I ask, why you want to up-grade the software, and what you expect you will get, that your not getting now. ???
Not expecting to much, like most electronic equipment, the upgrade in the software usually fixes any bugs and adds other stuff that wasn't alreally there, with the exception of Microsoft which adds more bugs than fixes.
The other thing is that there is not much to be found about Phoenix boxes, there is no indication of who made the box, whether it is there own brand in the US or if it is Asian and tagged for someone else, that fact the is so little information about the actual box.
Of all the stuff I have read on this forum, I have only see Phoenix mentioned by one other person other than me.
Who services them when they stuff up, where do you get info about them other than how to plug then in Etc?
I haven't had any trouble, other than rebooting for no reason, not excepting pid's at times, just little things.
