Hi Grills,
Haven't bothered to look at this before. My Manhattan 350 is usually on C Band. What I did tonight however is flick to the KU Band dish and B1. Scanned the ABC and SBS channels to make comparisons to my terrestrial STB.
I set up the 350 via menu, TV settings, set screen format to 16:9, remembered to "Store" the config. The screen then appeared with the traditional black bars top and bottom on my standard TV. The ABC logo was slight in from the right. Flicked A/V input to TV to my Terrestrial box with widescreen format, definitely widescreen with more picture to sides. The ABC logo was also bit more towards the centre
Therefore my satellie picture is not true widescreen. See the 2 x capture images. The terrestrial picture does have more image to left and right.
I don't know. Anyone else help???

got the same problem.
The manhattan doesnt seem to deal well with some (most?) 4:3 channels, and does not add the vertical side bars as it should. On the same channels my TV seems unable to spot the broadcast as a 4:3 and you end up with a "fat" picture.
16:9 channels that broadcast 4:3 work fine. As do 4:3 broadcasts on DVB-T, analogue, as well as DVD. So its not a problem with my TV.
TVSN (last time I checked.. I think its still 4:3) is a good example of a channel that does this.

Wicked differance in the quality of pic in your post there pom...is your dvb-t really that differant to the dvb-s? (I'm assuming manhatten on the left, and dvbt on the right????)

Yep Simmo correct with the image ID.
But my B1 reception, signal quality is not that great with the 85cm Penta. so that takes account of the difference, the dvb-t I have downstairs is a Strong SRT 5200, SD reception only, but pretty good.
BTW........I've got new toys recently for 'er indoors upstairs. HD dvb-t box and plasma

Wow !!!!
Now that is "Spitting the Dummy"
How long have you had the box "grills?
I assume, if your passion is for 16:9 viewing, you read the specs of the box and saw it is supposed to be able to display in this mode if transmitted and you said great.
My little experiment with compare to my terrestrial box showed that true WS was not being delivered by the Mahattan. I am assuming that the ABC off B1 is WS delivery and what you want to watch from the dish via the Manhattan is in WS format.
If you are not happy and have no come back with the party you purchased ift from, try putting up for sale here, I am sure you will get a realistic price
