Best F/S L/Ultra firmware for USALS & Motec?

I'm having a lot of trouble with the above. Sometimes the Moteck has a mind of it's own and I've got to reset it. Sometimes it behaves OK and moves between 5 sats configured, but not for long. I've got a firmware installed that's not actually named here. It's 2.29 boot version 5. (If you know what I mean). Could the firmware be part of my problem? Should I update? to the latest original? sofware? OR a later version? of my non factory firmware?
Dosent matter if it's Disecq 1.2 or USALS the problem is still the same.

Try version 2.40.
Dont change any boot loaders!!!!
If you cant find it, I'll send it.

ditto...2.40 here as well. I use the motek lookalike (superjack) on it with no worries
