does anybody know if there is a windows type reciever on the market as there is a lot of software available through prog-dvb and the likes already available.i have a sat card but they are next to useless at recieving anything but the strongest signal.so a dedicated reciever with a sensitive front end running prog-dvb would be the bees knees.

I,m not really sure what your getting at, But nearly all receivers are Windows based, and will except programming, [software] using a windows program, Only exceptions in the domestic market, are Dreambox, and Triple Dragon, which are Linex based, But these will except a sofware download via a conventional windows program.

err, what sat card, my sat card is just as good as any decoder at picking up weak signals.

I would doubt any decoders are windows based bassett, they just have windows software written so you can interface with the box. If your talking about a satellite box that runs windows I wouldn't touch one as windows is unstable and basically a piece of crap not suitable for that kind of stuff.

Linux is a good choice for a sat box OS for features but not for every user.

Mac is a lot better then Windoze. You are just new to the way MAC do things. Most of what you see in Windows are copied from MAC. I am using both.

You don't have a choice. What Vetrun is saying the box is running Linux, which you can't change. You don't need to learn Linux to play around with the receiver. To flash or edit the stored program list you will need a windows connected via a cable. The software to do this only runs on Windows. how this help you in some small way.

My receiver, even if it is a basic can run rings around most if not all of them! :D
