Ok,
I got a SkyStar 2 PCI DVB-S card and the software that came with it had an option where you select the frequency range, frequency step size, polarization and symbol rates and then it goes through and scans. At the end, you get a nice list of all the transponder frequencies found.

The problem is that this software no longer works on my PC, I use ProgDVB for watching, but can anyone recommend a good application for scanning the satellite?

cheers, :)

Why don't you re-install the software that you were previously using?
Do you have the 2.3 version? Check www.scaistar.com, it's in Italian but there's everything you'll need. Maybe this SW might help you

ok, nah, mine is the 2.6 version, couldn't find a 2.3 at the time, so I settled for 2.6, it's not so bad, :)
thanks for those links, I'll try them out.

There's a program called Transponder Finder by BxS which works with both 2.3 and 2.6 versions of the card.

It works pretty good, at least with 2.3's, I don't have a 2.6 to try it on.

ok, that blindscan is only for 2.3 version,
I'll try Trasponder Finder,

DVB Viewer that came with my card didn't seem to work even after reinstalling it.

My DVB Viewer gives me error which says: can't find B2C2 MPEG Filter.

I tried Transponder Finder, it couldn't find anything, but if I type in the freq manually in sig meter, then it show sig strength and it can find SR under Get Symbol Rate. Strange. :/

I just noticed that Setup4PC which came with my card has a transponder search option, :( :o  I just noticed, :) and it's not bad.

'Television' magazine September 2003 had a test report on the Skystar2 PC card. It (the report) seemed to me to be a bit convoluted but not having the card to play with ....

the newest version of transponder finder seems to have a bug. The only way I can get it to find anything is to turn off "custom delay" (think thats what its called)

The previous version works much better IMHO.
