Hi all!

I will be honest I know very little of satelites and receivers, but what I do know is that Scientific Atlanta Powervu receiver is not easy to figure out, I have tried diffirent settings but it keeps saying no signal, I currently have a Echostar DSB707fta receiver plugged on that same satellite dish and I have no problems, Am I a complete idiot or is there a specific reason I can't find any manuals for this Scientific Atlanta "powervu" receiver online or elsewhere.

I tried duplicating the settings from the Echostar to the Scientific At. Powervu but it keeps changing the settings by itself.
Should I study more or should I throw this receiver from a moving car.....
Your reply might earn a reward...who knows!

Yeah what model is it? Is it a Sci Alt D9234?

Dont use it a boat anchor just yet. You can set it up with presets.

Im sure bassett will also testify to this - old Sci Alt boxes have some of the best video chips in them.

In my opnion the Sci Alt D9234 produces one of the best if not the best video pic I have seen on any satellite reciever to date. It is just a shame it is so hard to use other than as a dedicated box in a rack.

Yep, I work with them quite a lot. They are confusing for newbies.
Select 9 from the menu and it will take you into the menu where you can change the settings. Don't forget to save them !

Curse the man , he's said what I should have said, Time to bath the dog.... *yuck*

Nice to see you've found your avatar "rick" and your right tit is alive and well.

Now ,, what was the question, right, scientic atlanta.. Firstly check that your LNB frequance is correct.. 11300 for Ku, 5150 for C-band
What model number is it,,,All the D series are digital, tell me it,s not an old B-mac
analogue 9708. If it is, then its an analogue machine. Door stop I,m afraid.

But as TSD has said there a superb picture quality, But they don't like being messed with, there a set and forget machine.

Please keep us all informed, on your progress
