I have found that it is good having your computer dual boot between Windows 98 SE and one of the newer OS (Windows 2000, Win XP). That way you can still use older programs in Windows 98 that don't work so well in the newer OS. I haven't tried dvbedit in winXP but it works fine in Windows 2000.

What isn't working in dvbedit?

First off make sure the cable you are using is a nullmodem cable. Then check the Com port settings and the speed setting in the File/Preferences menu. Make sure the speed setting is set to 38400 and set your nokia to this also using your remote. This is in the General Setup menu which is in the Expert menu on the nokia.

Give this a try and let me know how you go.

I got DVBedit working under Windows XP, however I just use to SCSI.

when I changed speed to 38400 it worked ,
then at some stage it stalled ,so reset dvbedit and reboot .
This is what it said " unable to open serial port ".
What puzzles me why it worked the first place?
Also scsi doesn't work.

Dvbedit only works on version of DVB2000 version 1.84 or lower

Hi all,
I've got dvbedit working believe it or not the null modem cable, from tandy was'nt . anyhow when I scan the graph for example b3 ops c1
horizontal , all the frequency says no lock , I've tried different increments, no luck. any suggestions.
I run dvb 2000 1.81.

make sure to select the correct lnbf setting in the dvbedit software
set bw to around 30

Thanks for reply, I've clicked asia pacific ku band 11300
set bw 30 mhz , and increments at 2 mhz.
Still no lock.

Is the lnbf a universal one? If it is use the universal setting instead of asia pacific ku band.

What Tuner do you have in the Nokia?

Thats a good question schippy75, I forgot about that one. If you don't know how to check this look through the gaps on the top of the nokia near where the F connector is and there is a sticker inside that would say something like NTD-1006 or something like that.

I'm not sure how well the DF1 tuners work with satellite scanning. My nokia had an NTD-1006 tuner so I have no idea. Does anyone know if the DF1 tuners can scan satellites?

I've also tried another nokia , with similar results and the tuner looking by the gaps above the f connector , it has no numbers what's so ever.

If the tuner contains the following lettering: DF1ST1173 Art. No: 55-50075-01, then it is a non-autosearch type. If it is marked NDT1006A and Art. No. 567009002 revB or similar, then it is OK.

Hi all, I've burrowed a nokia with ntd1006A tuner, still says no lock,and I use standard LNBF and checked all settings no luck.

Hi all , one more thing with the ntd1006a tuner the scanning graph is different ,the above has descending almost straight graph , the previous tuner is like sine wave graph or ac voltage graph.

If the nokia is running some of the newer DVB2000 software the signal scanner wont work even if it has an ntd1006 tuner. What version is it running?

Waht firmware version of dvb2000 is the best?

For compatibility with scanning/recording etc... I have found that DVB2000 NoOneManIt 1.82.0v is one of the best.
