Going up in May. Should know about our KU band beams here in Taiwan by mid to late June. It should be pretty strong and hopefully a 1.8m will perform like the 1.8m on Agila2.

If so then it's a 1.8m with a cband lnb primed on PAS10 cband and the ku band mounted with a bracket for thaicom5 off the same dish.

Lot's of FTA on these two satellites and you'll have the new KU Cband LNB for Thaicom5 as well. ;) :D :D :D :D

I will rephrase my question, there are some new channels on Thai com 5 global beam on 3480h 30000 5/6 and I am unable to get a signal lock on these, the signal is reasonably strong but it is very intermittent i.e four seconds on four seconds off what I would like to know is there anyone in southern Western Australia getting a stable signal on these channels? Unwired is on 3.5 GHz and there is only few filters which cut from 3.6 GHz and below which mean if your filter is similar one you will be wasting your money. It will cut out all freq 3.6 and below including yours one.

Also CNN 179 Hong Kong 4:2:2 circuit on Intelsat 8 (3811GHz Horizontal S/D14108) is running a live relay of KCTV Pyongyang and Korean Central Radio..
I expect the CNN Feed circuit relay will be up for many days as the story develops.

OOOPS!! I F"""""D that one up, disregard, it was actually Apstar @ 76deg E, the spill over on this specific transponder is huge, I moved the dish to Apstar and noted all the other transponders light up on the spectrum.

This reminds me of how strong TVM was in the Analog days.

I should have realised Thiacom doesn't have any global services above 3765 aprox.

As a retired brickie I find this new hobby challenging, I dident know one end of an lnb from the other, and am still finding it difficult to soak it all up ,Having a thai wife first priority was to find some thai soapies, went and bought a 2.30 wire dish. lnbf-c band, receiver,cable-satmeter, compass, spent days up and down the ladder trying to find thaicom 5, finished up hiring a pro to tune it in for me,imajine how I felt when I saw the dish pointing opposite to where I thought it was????forgot to reverse the directions for southern hemisphere, dont laugh!! any how a week later with sore legs (67yr old) we sat back to check out and enjoy the fruits of my labours, after half hour of flicking through the 100 or so programs, her who must be obeyed, said "its not what I wanted, I want thai channel 3 they have the best soapies, which brings me to my question.
is it possible to view thai channel 3 tv from Kwinana south of perth
The footprint is listed as regional, would a bigger dish do it or am I doomed to a life of sighs tuts from her ladyship,?

We have an FAQ on this forum hope you read it.

http://www.vetrun.net/forums/showthread.php?t=727 DIY FAQ Install For Dummies.doc (438.0 KB, 2636 views) Very important things like north and south included in there lol.

You might need a bigger dish and also even though the beams say regional does not mean each freq has same power levels

I have a 3m dish on Thaicom in Taiwan but cannot get all the freqs due to some local terrestrial interference. My company streams 20 channels off Thaicom to a US company for rebroadcasting in the USA.

Tv3 is on the Regional beams, i think a 4.5m or larger may do it.

But there are other options. Which receiver are you using ? if you have one that supports internet tv. You can view TV3 by streaming.

These streams are currently active and should play fine in an Ultraplus receiver

Thai Tv3

Thai Tv7

you can also use a player on your pc like smplayer http://smplayer.sf.net

Client sets the aspect ratio they want on the capture card. They are using 720 x 576 I would have thought or could be 1080 x 576 for a 16 x 9 aspect ratio. Actually maybe they used 640 x 480 NTSC settings for the US market.

Although we host the servers the clients of course can access them to setup how they want the streams. At least they are clear and smooth and dont jerk or buffer from our bandwidth. One thig about forums, is that they allow companies to find my company and the services we offer. Malaimar were looking all over Asia for a reliable host at an affordable cost. Also none of the CDN's in Singapore HK could offer anything near our cost or match the low latency we have to the USA. In fact for Malimar we are 11 hops to their CDN in the USA. 10 Hops are Hinet who peer to their own servers in the USA then one hop to the Malimar CDN.

It was 1??? x 576 when i looked and stretched. Are the raw signals even in 16x9 format?

The usual thing for SDTV is anamorphic in a 4x3 frame 720x576 if widescreen.

Something appears to have changed the raw rtmp stream not working now in smplayer. Will check it again later with the url snooper

The raw channel is 4 x 3 standard but they may have set it to 1080 x 576 output to give it a 16 x 9 aspect ratio. I don't know as client sets up card output settings.

Yup I showed you a JW player test stream as we were setting up for Malimar.

Actually I would put the stream at 756 x 404 if they wanted widescreen aspect as that also keeps the pic with higher quality.

Filmon uses 854x??? for their high quality 16x9 streams and 640x360 for their low streams.

Compared your Thai streams with dootv.com there wasn't a huge amount of difference both looked good. The funny thing is yours was showing a scrambled signal decoder message on Tv3 but the other stream source was fine and showing football. I Guess it was a rights issue and the Thaicom sat feed had gone BISS encrypted.

Cband CH3 encrypts when football games are on. The other guys are using a PAY channel probably from Truevisions. Our clients want to stay legal in what they provide. ;)

I could have them stream from KU band Truevisions as well if they really wanted to show football.

Oh its all good then that they have permission from the Thai broadcasters to redistribute their channel to International viewers over the internet. That must of been difficult for you to arrange. How much money did they ask for?

Actually Craig some companies in fact do buy rebroadcasting rights for channels. I just facilitate with dishes, servers, and bandwidth and clients are only allowed to Unicast to the USA. I dont own the servers or STB's, the clients buy those from me. For me that's totally legal and also as you know, any receiving of any foreign satellite signal in Taiwan does not breach any copyrights laws. In fact Supreme Court here ruled on that over ten years ago.

As you know I would'nt do anything illegal in the country where I live. :D:D

Even the MPAA knows this, you know it and I know it. Taiwan, land of the free. Also as you may be aware, just several weeks ago several local TV companies were sued in Taiwan for rebroadcsting Japanese porn channels in violation of copyrights. The Japanese lost their case because local prosecutors would not take it to trial. The ruling stated that "PORN" was not considered artistic content and therefor not covered under copyrights. https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20130325/18373422460/taiwan-supreme-court-says-porn-not-covered-copyright.shtml

Now maybe I should be streaming Japanese Porn channels instead. Also Craig my business has been investigated several times by the NCC and SGS here over complaints from other people about my business. They thought placeshifting using slingboxes or Vulkanos was "broadcasting" when it isn't. It's one to one use. So as long as no content leaving my office even on other servers is not "multicast" but "Unicast" then I remain legal. That's why the Unicast streams from here go to a CDN in the USA where the client multicasts from their side.

I cannot answer how much my clients pay. But try getting any host in Asia that can come even close to what I charge. No Data Center in Asia can match us for either low latency or cost. Certainly to enable your client to stream at 60mb/s uninterrupted for months on end helps, and no silly data capping limits.

You may also need to understand that " LIVE SPORTS" are also not covered under this ruling in Taiwan as well. After all you cannot copyright something that hasn't yet been produced. Something the UK High Court ruled on as well when Sky Sports lost their case against publicans showing live sports from satellite systems from outside of the UK.

Setanta USA recently lost their court case against a NY Pub who was streaming Gaelic Football from Ireland to the USA. Setanta lost because the stream was firstly delayed, and secondly Setanta didn't even broadcast the same games in the USA. Duh.

I live in a pirate free zone.
