I now have this receiver and will be writing a product review.
It has an Irdeto CA slot, but no CI slots. It does have AC3 Digital Audio Out.
It has a large list of satellites added and scans at a pace that could be faster. Editing the transponders is quite easy but I don't like the remote control.
It takes about 3 seconds to change a channel though for Dream TV, rather slow. For FTA programs it's about a second. Picture quality is quite good. The menu has a brightness and contrast but no colour adjustment. The EPG is very good.
Picture of the Atom on top. Compare the size to the Emetabox and Humax.
Black Emetabox Remote and next to Atom remote. I found the remotes buttons are to close together and are becoming too small for large hands.

The channel info and editing feature works well. You can be watching on a channel whilst moving the other channels into the order you like them. This decoder has better info EPG software than the Emetabox.

Press the EPG once and you get the channel info. Press it again to get the program info and the next program. Programs times are shown as well as the signal quality which is the green line and the signal quality strength is 93

This decoder also has the UCAS Feature....

As with most new decoders this one has more than 50 satellite transponders pre-installed. It's easy to change settings and navigate the menu.
When scanning it does not show you which frequency it's scanning. The emetabox scans about 5 times faster than this decoder which was a real surprise. I know the Emetabox is blindingly quick but this decoder is rather sedate at scanning.
In the middle of the transponder setting you can see the Signal quality. The yellow bar is the level you need to lock on the signal.

The external case looks similar to a receiver I have here, but the software look and menu system is unalike. I have a different brand..... :D

Similar LOL
Exactly the same..........so a Divitone Vbox Plus must be a Atom 9000 in other markets..
B.C can you post the software info screen e.g version etc...and you do the same OCEAN...

OK then, the cases are VERY similar, except for the detail of brand name......This main PCB inside the case does not fit the internal mounting hardware - one PCB screw hole is about 5mm offset from the metallic standoff on the case floor - it's a bit rough ! This is however still the best receiver I have tested for weak signal success by at least 2dB (measured) at IF. The THING underneath arrived today - weak signal performance is fairly good but the software/menu system is a bit shabby and the scanning of a TP list is relatively slow. Here is the info screen shot, excuse the retrace lines on the TV as the set is old and I left the G2 voltage a little high when repairing it.

I asked Schenzen Michael and he said Divitone Vbox Plus is same it will run the Atom 9000 software or the Magix software so it is compatible......
damn clones taking over..

It would be good to remove the major glitch with the Vbox+, this being the lockup encountered sometimes after 'delete all channels' is applied to any one satellite from the 'edit channels' field......
blackcrusader
30-07-2004, 04:31 PM
Here's the screenshot for you. I have newer versions of the software but I have not uploaded them into the box yet.
BTW I got this decoder from Shenzen Michael. The first one he sent me was a telestar with Magix software.. it lasted an hour then promptly died....
Sent me another one but it wouldnt save the scanned channels.... then he sent me the Atom 9000.... I think it's also the same software as Jonc has for the Silverbox 11....

Yep, I deleted all the channels in the Telestar and it then wouldn't write and save the scanned channels also. When you turn on this decoder is starts with Welcome to MAGIX.
I put it away for a week and took it out again tonight. I scanned in PAS 10 FTA frequencies, I hit ok to save the channels but it just goes back to a blank menu edit.... but I found that if you hit the sort button the satellite list would then appear with the channels scanned..... here's the software info for the Telestar

If the box enters this "lockup" mode all you have to do is immediately rescan the TPs for the channels you have just deleted. I found this out the second time it locked up. The first time it locked up I did the "factory reset" which of course deletes any TPs entered manually ( i.e. not in the factory list). Simply rescanning as above cures the problem and saves these manually entered TPs.....

This software looks the same as installed in Vbox+ here (but later version). How does it handle NTSC to PAL conversion ? For example, this Vbox+ does not work at all well with Star Sports on AS3, picture is "jumpy", sometimes stops for a couple of seconds, resumes and repeats this process. It works fine with NTSC direct output into multi-system TV and I wonder if the later software version does anything to alleviate this effect..
blackcrusader
31-07-2004, 02:59 AM
I'll have to set the AV to PAL out and try it on one of the PAS 10 NTSC NHK channels.
All my TV's are multisystem. But I do know that the Emetaboxe 3's that I use for PAS 10 customers convert the PAL out to NTSC without any problems.

I think you will find that the V-Box is a cheap copy of the Atom 9000. Never did find out the diffrance between the 9000 and the 7000. These things have a very good reputation in Europe. and unlike the V-box the card slot works on Ir***o
Have been after one for a while, let me know when you get sick of it B.C. I have a space for it on the rack.

Yes you can use the software, transfer is fast but you lose the large Q meter in the info field. The Q meter becomes a smaller linear meter with the Q value appearing in a small dot to the right of the meter indication..

OK first up a few of the screenshots have a bit of banding through them as the videograbber. It gets a little upset at the amount of RF my Notebook screen puts out. Also JPG compression makes the text of the menus pretty rough looking.
These screenshots are from the Satmax Atom (manufacturer Champion DVB) software looks the same as the version Mr Crusader played with.

Most of the recent Digital Satellite Receivers made in either Korea or China are mainly operated by the remote (RCU).
My eMetabox clone cum Magix 9600 is a copycat.
Most of the side functions are operated by the remote.
But their manual does not say explain the remote functions.
Thanks, Blackcrusader for showing what a new Magix looks like.

Hello,
I have a Divitone V-Box receiver (not V-box plus).
Software is awfull... dated from 12/11/2003.
Can I get any upgrade?
Program for upgrading Atom 9000 or 7000 does not work.
Simply, nothing happens. Even if I load file, click connect,
connect and turn on receiver.
Nothing.
With Vbox "updata_pc.exe" it works excellent, but will not boot after uploading ATOM software.
PLEASE HELP.
I stuck wit this one.

The Vbox is an emeta clone, Vbox plus uses different software.
Use B.C's latest clone compatible software for emeta.

First before you load any software make sure it is for your unit. Do you have a CA or CI slots? Even Emetabox software must be loaded for the correct unit type.

While surfing through the internet, I read that there are more than 15 clones DSReceiers for eMetabox 111.
I had mentioned such in a mail few months back.
I feel that Blackcrushader is the best spokesperson for eMetaboxes.

The thing is, if it's a clone model, genuine software might work perfectly well, or it could distroy the thing.. The only way your going to find out is try it, Normally, if the software is not intended for your receiver, it will just sit there, and do nothing.
Another thing you have to determin is the Loader, and the connection cable. Sometimes the loader is built into the software , on other software , you will also need a compaterable loader. Then we have the connection cable , some use a Null, [2x3, 3x2, 5x5] others use a streight through [2x2, 3x3, 5x5 ]
