We require information regarding transfer/updating the software of Digital satellite receiver of Same Chipsets based Models.

If the same Chipsets C.P.U. is used in the Digital satellite receivers Mainboard can we transfer the Software/Settings from one receiver to another?
How this can be done and through which Interface?
Also if there are same Chipsets based METABOX models, Can we transfer/update the software from one model to another.

Interesting post,, In some cases transfuring software from one receiver to another is quite successfull, and some times it turns the receiver into a doorstop.

With regard to emetabox, there are software rewrites on the net if you know where to look, But there compatability depends on the model and what your intending to reload it into.

Again, its use at own risk,, There are no Guarentee's that it will work.

I think what your saying is that you have a Divitone V-Box, and you want to replace the software with emetabox software.
Good Luck, **evil Grin**

The Divitone VBOX uses the EXACT same emetabox1 software.

The question is lacking some info? what receiver make model is trying to be upgraded?

just because a receiver has an STI 5518 chipset it doesnt mean you can load in receiver software for any other sti5518 chipset unit.

The Divitone VBOX uses the EXACT same emetabox1 software.

IF That is the case, why is it that the emetabox 1, will play
Aurora, Therefore if the software is the same the Divitone should also play Aurora. But does it, It does not:rolleyes:

Thats been the mystery all along!

i have 2 theorys either the Emetabox software people have "nobbled the software to detect its running on a clone"

or the onboard flash chip differs in some way compared to a legit Emetabox.

Has anyone opened a Vbox and Emetabox1 and compared?

I think mr JTAG might be the fix...

It might also be that eMetabox have a licence for Irdeto,

I see the latest Divitone is a pile of crap... Please avoid this brand of receiver, readers..

They call it the V-box 2, and claim all sorts of wonderfull things, the truth is there unable to do Irdeto, Dispite the fact that there web site will tell you differant. And there claiming fortnightly up-dates. I leave that statement to anyone who likes to dream about impossable, unobtainable, ilulusions, that disappear
as the sun comes up.. Curses, missed out again.

I have not seen anything about that one

Maybe its their attempt at a clone of emetabox 3?

Does it run Emetabox3 software?

Since seca and other stuff works I wonder why they have nobbled Irdeto?

hmmm you may be right about license issues

What you fail to understand Craig, Is that Divitone receivers , don,t have an Irdeto capable CAM. Its not there, The box is empty, Nothing , nix, SFL,

And as far as I know you can't upgrade something, when it does not exist,

There new receiver is called the V-box 2, and god only knows what its a copy off. But to date , its bloody hopeless. I don,t have one ,but i know someone who has, ""Not Happy"" Not happy at all.
But its nothing like the eMetabox 111, MY one came loaded with the very latest software, and a Aussie plug., and when my friend sent it over, he gift wrapped it, with very nice Brown Paper, and white string. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

You don't need a cam for Software "ucas" emulation, I'm not talking about "embedded irdeto"

How about mr crusader pops open one of his emetabox1's and we see the guts and I will put up a pic off the inside of the vbox to compare with the differences may be interesting to see

You don't need a cam for Software "ucas" emulation

UCAS stands for Universial Conditional Access Systems , which is
an inbedded all-cam. But in this case it's not quite "All" Irdeto being missing, not there, gone, left, removed, taken away, or did you think UCAS stood for,, Unknown Contralled Analogue Software.
